Mihai wins it late

A game of broken contracts — 40 of them around the table, and scores from 89 all the way down to 65.
Elena closes out the table, with 65 points. "Last one buys the coffee" — as they say at the table. In the third of the middle eights, Elena bid 1 and took 4 — and Mihai went down with it.
Third, and on the podium: Ana, with 70 points. In the last of the middle eights: Ana said 3, scooped 6, and Cretu and Elena were left counting the pieces.
Cretu led for 20 hands but finished second, 2 points behind. Cretu was ahead of Mihai right up to the last hand.
Mihai won with 89 points, by a whisker: just 2 points ahead. Mihai only went in front at the very last hand.
