The comeback of Elena

A game of broken contracts — 35 of them around the table, and scores from 102 all the way down to 49.

Mihai took last place without any nerves at all, on 49 points. 2 hands in a row: the table said and did, Mihai said and... hoped. It didn't hold. After the two-card hand on the way up, Mihai was 3rd and dreaming of the podium — but the last hands had other plans.

Third, on the podium: Daniela, up there with eyes on the top step. One card, a single card, and Daniela still got it wrong on the one-card hand. It happens even in the best houses.

edge took second with 82 points — a fine evening, but the gods of whist were busy elsewhere. edge was even in front after the last of the opening eights.

Elena took the game with 102 points and a 20-point cushion — never really in doubt. It didn't start well — only 4th after the opening eights — but it clearly didn't end there. 10 good hands in a row — at one point, Elena was playing as if they could see everyone else's cards.

Well played everyone — and especially Elena!
