Mihai, from start to finish

An evening with a bit of everything, except contracts kept: 37 slips at the table and scores from 116 down to 56.

Mihai took the game with 116 points and a 31-point cushion — never really in doubt. In front from the first of the opening eights to the end, and nobody got close enough to worry about. 9 good hands in a row — at one point, Mihai was playing as if they could see everyone else's cards.

Ionela took second with 85 points — a fine evening, but the gods of whist were busy elsewhere. Ionela swore 0 in the last of the opening eights and took a trick — whist has a sense of humour.

Third, and on the podium: Luis, with 75 points. In the four-card hand on the way down: Luis said 1, made 4, and the evening was ruined for Ionela. 2 hands in a row: the table said and did, Luis said and... hoped. It didn't hold.

Gigel took last place without any nerves at all, on 56 points. 3 hands in a row: Gigel broke the contract each time while everyone else made theirs. After the two-card hand on the way up, Gigel was 3rd and dreaming of the podium — but the last hands had other plans.
