Luis, from start to finish

An evening with a bit of everything, except contracts kept: 34 slips at the table and scores from 116 down to 67.

Luis won at a stroll, with 116 points and 20 clear of the rest. In front from the first of the opening eights to the end, and nobody got close enough to worry about. At one stretch, 8 good hands in a row.

Ionela took second with 96 points — a fine evening, but the gods of whist were busy elsewhere. Ionela swore 0 in the second of the opening eights and took a trick — whist has a sense of humour.

Catalin completed the podium with 75 points. Catalin swore 0 in the four-card hand on the way down and took a trick — whist has a sense of humour.

The tail of the table: Mihai, with 67 points. Somebody has to hold the candle. 2 hands in a row: Mihai broke the contract each time while everyone else made theirs. After the two-card hand on the way up, Mihai was 2nd and dreaming of the podium — but the last hands had other plans.
