Vyce takes the table

An evening with a bit of everything, except contracts kept: 37 slips at the table and scores from 134 down to 52.

Vyce wins by 58 clear. That's not whist any more, it's a parade with a brass band. At one stretch, 11 good hands in a row.

Elena took second with 76 points — a fine evening, but the gods of whist were busy elsewhere. In the second of the closing eights: Elena said 0, scooped 3, and Mihai was left counting the pieces.

Ana completed the podium with 62 points. In the third of the closing eights, Ana bid 2 and took 5 — and Mihai went down with it. 2 hands in a row: only Ana slipped, while the rest said it and did it. The cards were kind to everyone but Ana.

Mihai closed the table from the back, on 52 points — there is always a next game. 3 hands in a row: Mihai broke the contract each time while everyone else made theirs. Before the last eights, only 8 points off the podium — the pace just didn't hold.
