Luis wins the evening

A game of broken contracts — 38 of them around the table, and scores from 105 all the way down to 42.

Gigel took last place without any nerves at all, on 42 points. In the four-card hand on the way down: Gigel said 0, scooped 3, and Luis was left counting the pieces. 2 hands in a row: the table said and did, Gigel said and... hoped. It didn't hold.

Third, and on the podium: Ionela, with 68 points. Ionela was even in front after the seven-card hand on the way down.

Vyce took second with 84 points — a fine evening, but the gods of whist were busy elsewhere. Vyce swore 0 in the last of the opening eights and took a trick — whist has a sense of humour.

Luis finishes on 105 points, 21 above the next — the rest were playing a different game, it seems. In the second of the opening eights: Luis called 2, took 6, and Vyce was left out in the cold. 6 good hands in a row — at one point, Luis was playing as if they could see everyone else's cards.
