PaulP, from start to finish

An evening with a bit of everything, except contracts kept: 39 slips at the table and scores from 97 down to 64.

PaulP won the game with 97 points. In front from the first of the opening eights to the end, and nobody got close enough to worry about. Going into the last hand the lead was already 23 — that one was a lap of honour.

Runner-up sounds good — gold sounded better. Ionela, with 82 points. 2 hands in a row: only Ionela slipped, while the rest said it and did it. The cards were kind to everyone but Ionela.

Third, on the podium: Bot, up there with eyes on the top step. 3 hands in a row: the whole table kept its word, only Bot didn't — but insisted, with dignity.

Last, but with style: Luis, with 64 points. At least there were cards worth talking about. After the two-card hand on the way up, Luis was 2nd and dreaming of the podium — but the last hands had other plans.
