Ana wins it late

A game of broken contracts — 40 of them around the table, and scores from 92 all the way down to 52.

Last place, with dignity: Ionela, with 52 points. Somebody had to do it. 2 hands in a row: the table said and did, Ionela said and... hoped. It didn't hold. After the two-card hand on the way up, Ionela was 3rd and dreaming of the podium — but the last hands had other plans.

Third, and on the podium: Mihai, with 59 points. Mihai said they'd take nothing in the four-card hand on the way down... and took some. Whist listens, then does the opposite.

Luis finished second, just 0 points short of the win. Level on points with Ana, and behind only on the tie-break. Luis was even in front after the five-card hand on the way up.

Ana finished level with Luis on 92 points and took the win on the tie-break: fewer broken contracts. In the first of the middle eights: Ana said 1, made 4, and the evening was ruined for Ionela. At one stretch, 6 good hands in a row.
