The comeback of Pity

The lead changed hands 6 times — nobody got comfortable at the top.
Cosmin closes out the table, with 72 points. "Last one buys the coffee" — as they say at the table. In the first of the opening eights, Cosmin bid 1 and took 5 — and Matei went down with it. 2 hands in a row: Cosmin broke the contract each time while everyone else made theirs. In the seven-card hand on the way down, 2 chairs flew at Cosmin within seconds 🪑 — the table had opinions.
Ilinca finishes right in the middle — neither hot nor cold — 4th, with 84 points. 2 hands in a row: the table said and did, Ilinca said and... hoped. It didn't hold. After the two-card hand on the way up, Ilinca was 3rd and dreaming of the podium — but the last hands had other plans.
Third, and on the podium: Matei, with 97 points. In the second of the closing eights: Matei said 4, scooped 7, and Pity was left counting the pieces. 2 hands in a row: the table said and did, Matei said and... hoped. It didn't hold. The third of the closing eights: 2 chairs thrown at Matei in seconds 🪑 — the table spoke its mind, furnished and all.
Mara led for 13 hands but finished second, 10 points behind.
First place: Pity, with 117 points. It didn't start well — only 4th after the opening eights — but it clearly didn't end there. At one stretch, 13 good hands in a row. Pity couldn't bear to look 3 times 🙈 — some hands are better not watched.
Congratulations to all — see you at the next table!
