The comeback of Luis

The lead passed from hand to hand, 4 times over — it was anyone's guess.

Last place: Kiki, with 78 points. In the third of the closing eights: Kiki said 5, made 8, and the evening was ruined for Ioana. Kiki was ahead of Ioana right up to the last hand.

Third, on the podium: Ioana, up there with eyes on the top step. Ioana got past Kiki at the very last hand. Ioana was even in front after the last of the opening eights.

Laura finished second, just 2 points short of the win. In the first of the opening eights, Laura bid 3 and took 6 — and Luis went down with it. Laura was even in front after the four-card hand on the way down.

Luis won by a whisker, with just 2 points — at whist even one point is as good as a mile. It didn't start well — only 3rd after the opening eights — but it clearly didn't end there.
