The comeback of Daniel

5 changes of leader: this one was a tug of war.

Last place, with dignity: Alice, with 79 points. Somebody had to do it. Leading by the book until the seven-card hand on the way down... then the cards turned the page. Alice, hard luck. In the first of the closing eights: Alice said 3, made 6, and the evening was ruined for Daniel S and PaulP.

PaulP finished 4th with 83 points. After the four-card hand on the way up, PaulP was 2nd and dreaming of the podium — but the last hands had other plans.

Cozo completed the podium with 93 points. In the second of the middle eights: Cozo called 3, took 6, and Alice and edge were left out in the cold. Cozo was even in front after the last of the opening eights.

edge took second with 96 points — a fine evening, but the gods of whist were busy elsewhere. edge swore 0 in the third of the opening eights and took a trick — whist has a sense of humour.

Daniel S won at a stroll, with 119 points and 23 clear of the rest. It didn't start well — only 3rd after the opening eights — but it clearly didn't end there.
