Alice, from start to finish

4 players, 24 hands, one winner. Here is how it went.

Alice took the game with 111 points and a 21-point cushion — never really in doubt. In front from the first of the opening eights to the end, and nobody got close enough to worry about. 7 good hands in a row — at one point, Alice was playing as if they could see everyone else's cards.

Olga took second with 90 points — a fine evening, but the gods of whist were busy elsewhere. 2 hands in a row: the table said and did, Olga said and... hoped. It didn't hold. Olga cried laughing 3 times 😂 — the cheapest entertainment at the table.

Third, on the podium: Cosmin, up there with eyes on the top step. Cosmin said they'd take nothing in the four-card hand on the way down... and took some. Whist listens, then does the opposite.

The tail of the table: Petru, with 80 points. Somebody has to hold the candle. After the three-card hand on the way up, Petru was 2nd and dreaming of the podium — but the last hands had other plans.
