Luis comes back from behind

An evening with a bit of everything, except contracts kept: 42 slips at the table and scores from 82 down to 53.

Luis won with 82 points, by a whisker: just 1 point ahead. It didn't start well — only 3rd after the opening eights — but it clearly didn't end there. And that despite a slip in the very last hand.

Ana finished second, just 1 point short of the win. The place above was a single point away.

Ionela rounds out the podium with 61 points. Bronze still counts as a medal. 3 hands in a row: Ionela broke the contract each time while everyone else made theirs.

Mihai closes out the table, with 53 points. "Last one buys the coffee" — as they say at the table. In the last of the closing eights, Mihai bid 4 and took 8 — and Ionela and Luis went down with them. After the three-card hand on the way up, Mihai was 3rd and dreaming of the podium — but the last hands had other plans.
