The comeback of Ionela

A game of broken contracts — 34 of them around the table, and scores from 103 all the way down to 49.

Luis took last place without any nerves at all, on 49 points. The table was Luis's after the five-card hand on the way down; the second half had other ideas. In the third of the opening eights: Luis called 4, took 8, and Ana was left out in the cold.

Third, on the podium: Ana, up there with eyes on the top step. 2 hands in a row: the whole table kept its word, only Ana didn't — but insisted, with dignity.

Mihai led for 16 hands but finished second, 5 points behind. Mihai left the robot at the wheel most of the evening and still came out respectable. Teamwork with the server.

Ionela crossed the finish line first, on 103 points. In the first of the opening eights: Ionela said 2, scooped 5, and Luis was left counting the pieces. It didn't start well — only 4th after the opening eights — but it clearly didn't end there.
