Cretu wins the evening

A game of broken contracts — 42 of them around the table, and scores from 85 all the way down to 43.

Gigel took last place without any nerves at all, on 43 points. In the last of the opening eights: Gigel said 0, scooped 4, and Kiki was left counting the pieces. 2 hands in a row: the table said and did, Gigel said and... hoped. It didn't hold. The six-card hand on the way up: 2 chairs thrown at Gigel in seconds 🪑 — the table spoke its mind, furnished and all.

Emi completed the podium with 64 points. In the first of the closing eights: Emi called 4, took 7, and Gigel was left out in the cold. Emi was ahead of Kiki right up to the last hand.

Kiki took second with 65 points — a fine evening, but the gods of whist were busy elsewhere. Kiki got past Emi at the very last hand. Kiki spent a long time on the red lantern and came out clean — determined not to buy the round.

Cretu finishes on 85 points, 20 above the next — the rest were playing a different game, it seems. And that despite a slip in the very last hand.
