Luis won at a stroll, with 119 points and 31 clear of the rest. In front from the last of the opening eights to the end, and nobody got close enough to worry about. At one stretch, 7 good hands in a row.

Elena took second with 88 points — a fine evening, but the gods of whist were busy elsewhere. Elena got past Mihai at the very last hand. 2 hands in a row: the whole table kept its word, only Elena didn't — but insisted, with dignity.

Mihai rounds out the podium with 87 points. Bronze still counts as a medal. Mihai was ahead of Elena right up to the last hand. 2 hands in a row: Mihai broke the contract each time while everyone else made theirs.

Ana took last place without any nerves at all, on 57 points. 2 hands in a row: only Ana slipped, while the rest said it and did it. The cards were kind to everyone but Ana. After the four-card hand on the way up, Ana was 3rd and dreaming of the podium — but the last hands had other plans.
