Barladeanu wins the evening

A game of broken contracts — 37 of them around the table, and scores from 125 all the way down to 55.

Elena closed the table from the back, on 55 points — there is always a next game. In the third of the middle eights: Elena called 3, took 6, and Mihai was left out in the cold.

Monica rounds out the podium with 67 points. Bronze still counts as a medal. In the first of the closing eights, Monica bid 3 and took 6 — and Elena went down with it. 3 hands in a row: Monica broke the contract each time while everyone else made theirs.

Mihai took second with 78 points — a fine evening, but the gods of whist were busy elsewhere. 2 hands in a row: the table said and did, Mihai said and... hoped. It didn't hold. Mihai was even in front after the two-card hand on the way down.

Barladeanu took the game with 125 points and a 47-point cushion — never really in doubt. 14 good hands in a row — at one point, Barladeanu was playing as if they could see everyone else's cards.

Congratulations to all — see you at the next table!
