unf0rgettable wins the evening

A game of broken contracts — 39 of them around the table, and scores from 104 all the way down to 59.

Elena closes out the table, with 59 points. "Last one buys the coffee" — as they say at the table. 2 hands in a row: only Elena slipped, while the rest said it and did it. The cards were kind to everyone but Elena. After the two-card hand on the way up, Elena was 3rd and dreaming of the podium — but the last hands had other plans.

Olga completed the podium with 71 points. Olga was ahead of Luis right up to the last hand. Olga was even in front after the two-card hand on the way up.

Luis took second with 77 points — a fine evening, but the gods of whist were busy elsewhere. The last hand decided it: Luis went past Olga right on the line. In the last of the middle eights: Luis called 0, took 3, and unf0rgettable was left out in the cold.

unf0rgettable took the game with 104 points and a 27-point cushion — never really in doubt. And that despite a slip in the very last hand.

Congratulations to all — see you at the next table!
