The comeback of Kiki

A game of broken contracts — 38 of them around the table, and scores from 91 all the way down to 65.

The tail of the table: Elena, with 65 points. Somebody has to hold the candle. In the last of the opening eights, Elena bid 2 and took 5 — and Kiki went down with it. After the three-card hand on the way up, Elena was 3rd and dreaming of the podium — but the last hands had other plans.

Third, on the podium: Mihai, up there with eyes on the top step. 2 hands in a row: the whole table kept its word, only Mihai didn't — but insisted, with dignity.

Ana finished second, just 1 point short of the win. The place above was a single point away. Ana was even in front after the third of the middle eights.

Kiki won with 91 points, by a whisker: just 1 point ahead. Kiki was even last after the seven-card hand on the way down, which makes the win all the sweeter.
