The comeback of Ana

A game of broken contracts — 37 of them around the table, and scores from 101 all the way down to 70.

Last, but with style: Ionela, with 70 points. At least there were cards worth talking about. Ionela was ahead of Elena right up to the last hand. After the two-card hand on the way up, Ionela was 3rd and dreaming of the podium — but the last hands had other plans.

Elena completed the podium with 71 points. The last hand decided it: Elena went past Ionela right on the line. In the first of the middle eights: Elena called 1, took 5, and Ionela and Mihai were left out in the cold.

Mihai led for 19 hands but finished second, 29 points behind. 11 broken contracts, collected like stamps.

Ana wins by 29 clear. That's not whist any more, it's a parade with a brass band. In the first of the opening eights: Ana said 2, made 5, and the evening was ruined for Ionela. Ana was even last after the seven-card hand on the way down, which makes the win all the sweeter.
