edge takes the table

An evening with a bit of everything, except contracts kept: 37 slips at the table and scores from 106 down to 51.

edge comes out on top of everyone, with 106 points. The cards were kind. In the five-card hand on the way down: edge said 2, scooped 5, and Elena and Vyce were left counting the pieces. At one stretch, 7 good hands in a row.

Vyce led for 16 hands but finished second, 14 points behind. Vyce said they'd take nothing in the two-card hand on the way down... and took some. Whist listens, then does the opposite.

Third, on the podium: Elena, up there with eyes on the top step. Elena got past Laura at the very last hand. 2 hands in a row: the whole table kept its word, only Elena didn't — but insisted, with dignity.

Last place, with dignity: Laura, with 51 points. Somebody had to do it. 3 hands in a row: the table said and did, Laura said and... hoped. It didn't hold. Laura was ahead of Elena right up to the last hand.
