Luis comes back from behind

The lead passed from hand to hand, 4 times over — it was anyone's guess.

Luis won with 84 points, by a whisker: just 1 point ahead. It didn't start well — only 4th after the opening eights — but it clearly didn't end there. And that despite a slip in the very last hand.

Elena finished second, just 1 point short of the win. The place above was a single point away. Elena spent a good while in last place and climbed out of it.

Kiki rounds out the podium with 77 points. Bronze still counts as a medal. Kiki was even in front after the last of the opening eights.

Mihai took last place without any nerves at all, on 62 points. Mihai had the table at their feet after the seven-card hand on the way down. Whist was there to remind them nothing lasts forever. In the third of the closing eights: Mihai called 2, took 5, and Elena was left out in the cold.
