The lead kept changing — Mihai came out on top

The lead changed hands 7 times — nobody got comfortable at the top.

Last place, with dignity: Ana, with 54 points. Somebody had to do it. Started like a champion — top of the table after the six-card hand on the way down — and finished like a tragedy. In the first of the closing eights: Ana said 3, made 6, and the evening was ruined for Cretu.

Cretu rounds out the podium with 57 points. Bronze still counts as a medal. In the four-card hand on the way down, Cretu bid 1 and took 4 — and Ana and Elena went down with them.

Elena took second with 63 points — a fine evening, but the gods of whist were busy elsewhere. Elena was even in front after the last of the middle eights.

Mihai won at a stroll, with 95 points and 32 clear of the rest.

Well played everyone — and especially Mihai!
