edge, from start to finish

Another evening at the green baize, and it had a bit of everything.

edge won at a stroll, with 140 points and 57 clear of the rest. In front from the first of the opening eights to the end, and nobody got close enough to worry about. 2 hands in a row: the table said and did, edge said and... hoped. It didn't hold.

Elena took second with 83 points — a fine evening, but the gods of whist were busy elsewhere. Elena got past Ana at the very last hand. 3 hands in a row: the table said and did, Elena said and... hoped. It didn't hold.

Ana rounds out the podium with 78 points. Bronze still counts as a medal. Ana was ahead of Elena right up to the last hand.

Mihai took last place without any nerves at all, on 54 points. 2 hands in a row: only Mihai slipped, while the rest said it and did it. The cards were kind to everyone but Mihai. After the two-card hand on the way up, Mihai was 2nd and dreaming of the podium — but the last hands had other plans.

Congratulations to all — see you at the next table!
