The lead kept changing — Denisa came out on top

The lead passed from hand to hand, 4 times over — it was anyone's guess.

Last place, with dignity: Ionela, with 72 points. Somebody had to do it. Level on points with Sebi, and behind only on the tie-break. 3 hands in a row: the table said and did, Ionela said and... hoped. It didn't hold.

Sebi rounds out the podium with 72 points. Bronze still counts as a medal. The last hand decided it: Sebi went past Ionela right on the line. 2 hands in a row: Sebi broke the contract each time while everyone else made theirs.

Luis took second with 80 points — a fine evening, but the gods of whist were busy elsewhere. The last hand decided it: Luis went past Ionela right on the line. 2 hands in a row: only Luis slipped, while the rest said it and did it. The cards were kind to everyone but Luis. Luis cried laughing 3 times 😂 — a fun evening, at least on one side of the table.

Denisa wins by 25 clear. That's not whist any more, it's a parade with a brass band. In the third of the closing eights: Denisa said 2, scooped 5, and Sebi was left counting the pieces.
