edge wins by 36 clear. That's not whist any more, it's a parade with a brass band. In the third of the middle eights: edge said 0, scooped 3, and Ana was left counting the pieces. In front from the first of the opening eights to the end, and nobody got close enough to worry about.

Mihai took second with 74 points — a fine evening, but the gods of whist were busy elsewhere. The last hand decided it: Mihai went past Ana right on the line.

Ana completed the podium with 70 points. In the second of the closing eights, Ana bid 2 and took 6 — and Elena went down with it. Ana was ahead of Mihai right up to the last hand.

Last, but with style: Elena, with 57 points. At least there were cards worth talking about. 2 hands in a row: the whole table kept its word, only Elena didn't — but insisted, with dignity.
