The lead changed hands 4 times — nobody got comfortable at the top.
Elena took last place without any nerves at all, on 56 points. 2 hands in a row: Elena broke the contract each time while everyone else made theirs.
Third, on the podium: Mihai, up there with eyes on the top step. Mihai was ahead of Luis right up to the last hand.
Luis took second with 87 points — a fine evening, but the gods of whist were busy elsewhere. The last hand decided it: Luis went past Mihai right on the line. In the last of the opening eights, Luis bid 0 and took 4 — and Ana and Elena went down with them.
Ana won at a stroll, with 107 points and 20 clear of the rest. In the first of the middle eights: Ana said 0, scooped 3, and Mihai was left counting the pieces. At one stretch, 8 good hands in a row.
