The lead kept changing — Ana came out on top

The lead changed hands 4 times — nobody got comfortable at the top.

edge closed the table from the back, on 74 points — there is always a next game. 3 hands in a row: edge broke the contract each time while everyone else made theirs. After the two-card hand on the way up, edge was leading the table — but the last hands had other plans.

Third, and on the podium: Mihai, with 81 points. Mihai was ahead of Elena right up to the last hand. 2 hands in a row: the table said and did, Mihai said and... hoped. It didn't hold.

Elena took second with 84 points — a fine evening, but the gods of whist were busy elsewhere. The last hand decided it: Elena went past Mihai right on the line. In the last of the opening eights: Elena called 0, took 3, and Mihai was left out in the cold.

Ana wins by 23 clear. That's not whist any more, it's a parade with a brass band. 2 hands in a row: the whole table kept its word, only Ana didn't — but insisted, with dignity.
