The comeback of Mihai

The cards are back in the box. Here is what happened at the table.

Last, but with style: Lucky, with 87 points. At least there were cards worth talking about. Leading by the book until the last of the opening eights... then the cards turned the page. Lucky, hard luck. In the second of the closing eights: Lucky said 0, made 3, and the evening was ruined for Ana.

Elena rounds out the podium with 89 points. Bronze still counts as a medal. The last hand decided it: Elena went past Lucky right on the line. 2 hands in a row: Elena broke the contract each time while everyone else made theirs.

Ana led for 13 hands but finished second, 21 points behind. Ana got past Lucky at the very last hand.

Mihai wins by 21 clear. That's not whist any more, it's a parade with a brass band. It didn't start well — only 3rd after the opening eights — but it clearly didn't end there. 2 hands in a row: the whole table kept its word, only Mihai didn't — but insisted, with dignity.
